Subwoofer & AV Receiver Crossover Settings

This is a good starting point and, honestly, should be more than enough for most home theatre systems.

Steps:

  1. Subwoofer settings: Crossover at maximum point. Mostly this is 150dB or a marking that says LFE (disable). Phase at 0 degree. Gain at 11 or 12 o'clock.
  2. AV Receiver: MultEQ or equalizer settings at OFF. Again, OFF not flat or some mumbo jumbo setting.
  3. AV Receiver: Subwoofer level at 3dB. Make sure distance setting (eg 3m, 4.2m) is correct. This distance is between your sitting position and subwoofer location.
  4. AV Receiver: Subwoofer/LFE crossover setting at 120Hz.
  5. AV Receiver: Rest of the speakers set to SMALL. Crossover settings: Front speakers 90Hz, Centre speaker 120Hz, and surround speakers at 150Hz.
That's it, you're good to go.
