After enabling XMP in BIOS, benchmarking result jumped up significantly

Image
I posted my Novabench test result in a forum and someone commented that memory speed can be improved. He suggested to make sure that XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) is enabled in BIOS. After checking, yup, XMP setting is disabled by default. So I enabled it and here's the new test result, what a significant jump in performance: So from a score of 4026 to 4647, that's a +15% boost. Thanks, forum pips!

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - on a 9 year old PC

Image
MSFS 2020 was launched last week (Aug 18, 2020) so I eagerly tried it on our 9 year old PC . Here is the result at the lowest graphics setting inside MSFS 2020: Yes, that's right - 5 frames per second. Ouch! So I quickly replaced the SLI setup (two units of Nvidia GTX 570 GPU ) with Nvidia RTX 2070 Super GPU . Photo  showing the old and new GPUs. Here are the results: MSFS Low-end Setting which gives 50+ fps MSFS Medium Setting which gives 40+ fps MSFS High-end Setting which gives 30+ fps MSFS Ultra Setting which gives 10-20 fps So at this stage, I play by using High-end Setting. Dual Sub-Woofer Final Setup

Image
Using  miniDSP UMIK-1 USB microphone and REW room acoustics software , I finally found an acceptable compromise on making the two subwoofers work together. As shown in the graph below ( blue ), one sub is at 180 degree phase to give a more 'consistent' response within 10Hz ~ 100Hz.

Crazy 13/08/2020

Ordered these today: Galax GeForce RTX 2070 Super EX Gamer Black Edition 8GB Logitech Pro Flight Yoke with Throttle Quadrant and Pro Flight Pedals Microsoft Flight Simulator (Standard Edition 2020) I'll investigate MFS 2020 performance of my current setup which is a i7-2600K and GTX 570 (SLI) combo with a 2560x1440 monitor. This setup is  9 years old this month . SLI'ed a few weeks later . Then replace GTX 570 (SLI) with RTX 2070 Super. Hopefully, i7-2600K can keep up. Otherwise, I'm looking at upgrading motherboard, CPU, memory etc :-( GTX 570 (SLI) might go to eBay.
